Privacy Policy

How information is collected, used, and protected when you read, subscribe, or interact on The Ideation Desk.

1. Information You Provide

When you create a reader account or sign in (via email and password or Google Sign-In), we store your display name, email address, and encrypted credentials so you can bookmark Articles/Posts and manage your reading list. When you subscribe to the newsletter, we store your email address strictly to send new essays and updates. When you post a comment on an article, your display name and comment text are displayed publicly alongside the article.

2. Automatic & Technical Data

Like most publications, the server records basic technical details necessary to deliver pages securely and prevent abuse, including IP addresses for rate-limiting sign-in attempts, browser user-agent strings to filter automated bots from article view counts, and session cookies.

3. Cookies & Browser Storage

We use essential cookies and local storage to remember your light or dark theme preference, keep you signed in to your reader or owner session, and protect forms against cross-site request forgery (CSRF). See our Cookie Policy for details.

4. Third-Party Services & Embeds

Articles may include embedded content (such as X posts, YouTube videos, or GitHub Gists) or optional Google Sign-In. Interacting with those third-party features is governed by the respective service's privacy policy. We never sell or rent reader email addresses to third parties.

5. Your Choices & Data Deletion

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, remove saved articles from your reader dashboard, or request deletion of your reader account or comments through the Contact page.
